Suggestions for determining if your insurance will help you pay for your sessions. - I am in two insurance networks - United Behavioral Health and
Managed HealthCare Network. You should call the number for mental health benefits on your
insurance card and determine whether or not you need to get your sessions authorized. They can guide you through the process.
- If you have Cigna, Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Humana, etc., your insurance company may still pay for part of
your session. Call the number for mental health benefits
on your insurance card. Ask if "B. Gayle Luster",
is in your network. Sometimes companies like Cigna may use a different network for mental health providers. So it always
a good idea to ask.
- If they do not use one of the networks I am in, then ask what the benefit
is for "out-patient, out-of-network mental health benefits." They can tell
you.
- Make sure you find out what your out-of-network deductible is.
- You may also want to ask what the "reasonable
& customary" reimbursable amount is for a 50 minute psychotherapy session.
I know, I know, insurance stuff still confuses me and I've been doing this since
